I like to Move it move it!

Cannon loves to dance! He definitely has a little bit of the "white man syndrome." It's so cute, it makes me laugh!! (It reminds me a little of Tim's "puttin' out the vibe" dance. hehe)

Halloween

So I know it's a little late, but here is our Halloween experience! Here in Utah when Halloween falls on a Sunday everybody goes Trick-or-Treating on Saturday night instead. Poor Cannon was just getting over Bronchitis (plus it was raining), so we didn't take him out Trick-or-Treating. We still dressed him up and went to see Grandma Peggy and Grandpa Jay. The REAL fun was on Halloween Jona and Gloria had their Chili Dinner Party! Everyone...well almost everyone, dressed up and we ate and played games!

Grandma Louise was there, in the top left picture. Then you see our little family dressed up as cowboys and Indians. Well, Josh and I were cowboys and Cannon was our little Indian. He even let me draw on his face after he watched me draw freckles on my own face. In the bottom picture you see Nick and Jake.. they dressed up as themselves!

David dressed up as the Devil and Gloria was a beautiful Witch! Ben was Kip and Ness was Deb, both from Napoleon Dynamite. Then in the bottom both Jona and Grandpa Jay as themselves!

After we ate we played some games. Josh and I were responsible for the messiest game. We had two people racing against each other eating donuts as you see them. It was a lot of fun and the kids had a blast! The biggest surprise was Jona's domination against Nick. Nick has a reputation for a special talent of stuffing his face...with untold ability. However, not this night... Jona put him to shame! It was all a lot of fun and look forward to next year!

My little Boy. . .

This picture was taken after Cannon had removed my eyeliner pencil and I discovered that he had removed the lid. I was trying to take a decent picture but he was moving around too much. So this is the best one that I got.

The following two pictures were taken right after our drive home from the grocery store. While I was at the store bagging the groceries Cannon discovered the loaf of French bread and after a big, "YUM" from him I couldn't deny him and gave him a piece. After I loaded the car, he wanted more and wanting to get home soon I just gave him the whole loaf to eat on the way home. Oh how he loved it! The whole ride home I would peak and see him taking bites right from the loaf which would be followed by a, "Mmmm." Oh the small and simple things that bring a smile to my face!

Hair Cut and Messy Face!

Ok, so on July 22nd I decided that I should cut Cannon's hair. We have just some small trimmers and it ended up cutting his hair a lot shorter than I expected so he looked like a little bald baby right after I did it. It's funny the little things that you can become attached to. We had only ever given him a small trim before, so when I did that first piece (and it was shorter than anticipated) I wanted to cry. But only for a split second, because then I looked at my boy...and he was still my boy! (Cute as ever!) So then I just laughed... and continued to finish. I think Cannon likes how his buzzed hair feels, after I cut it he kept running his hands all over it. This was a few weeks ago now, so his hair has already started to grow back fast. :)

That's MY boy!! Josh is always giving me a hard time about how much I love sweets! Well, this boy may not look like me. . . but he definitely is MINE! Cannon LOVES to eat ice cream, cookies, chocolate bars, pretty much anything sweet and he is always asking for "mow." Of course he always makes a HUGE mess, what that's all part of the fun! So here are just a few pictures of him enjoying his treats.

Ok, so I have to make an honorable mention about my wonderful husband Josh. A few weeks ago some of our neighbors bought the local store and have been working non-stop trying to fix it up. Everybody in the community is so excited people have been helping them remodel the store. (Which anybody who has seen it, knows it needed it BADLY.) So Josh has been helping all that he can. On July 24th, after waking up early to go to the Ogden City Parade, then we spend the early afternoon swimming at his parents. We headed home and around 2:30 Josh headed to The Store (yes, that's what it's called), to go and help in anyway he could. So from 2:30 - 9:30 he was over there helping in the extremely HOT weather with no AC. He had spent the day ripping up tile and repainting the exterior. So by the time he got home Cannon was in bed, and after such a long day what does he do? He offers to give ME back rub! It was such a small gesture, but I was amazed. Here he had been doing labor work for SEVEN hours and he wasn't thinking about himself. He offers to help ME relax! Oh, I love my husband! He truly is so generous and giving he amazes me on a daily basis! So that is my moment of bragging about my amazingly, wonderful, AWESOME husband!

The Great Northwest!

The week of July 4th we went to visit my parents in Oregon! My whole family was going so it was a lot of fun! We decided to drive instead of fly, I admit I was terrified of doing the drive with a one year old. But he did amazingly well. We brought a lot of snacks, books and movies to watch on the laptop. We stop and let him play at a McDonald's in Boise, which also helped. From start to finish the drive usually takes anywhere from 12-13 hours. We wanted to get an early start to Cannon would sleep, so we ended up leaving the house around 4:45am.

While up in Oregon we were able to stay at a Beach house in Cannon Beach. Yes, that is the actual name of the city and the beach in that area. (If you are a fan of the Goonies, part of the movie was filmed in Cannon Beach. The three rocks just off the coast are actually in Cannon Beach.) Usually the Oregon coast has very mild weather. Even in summer it's not hot, however they were having record heat and the day we arrived it was 95 degrees! It felt like an actual beach, not just the coast! You will also notice Josh below doing his metal detecting. He went out one morning around 6am and was out for about two hours.

This is my favorite picture of Cannon on the beach.

Favorites

So lately Cannon has been making this cheesy smile. It makes us laugh hard. He even kept doing it to the cashier at the grocery store, and it was making her laugh. We finally caught it on camera. So needless to say, here it is....

The other day Cannon was helping me make dinner. I was making funeral potatoes and Cannon decided he wanted to eat some. So I had an extra potato and let him eat want he wanted. He is a true boy, as long as he is eating he is happy!

We also took Cannon swimming in Grandma Peggy and Grandpa Jay's pool for the very first time! It was actually on Memorial Day, and even though the weather wasn't as warm as we wanted it to be it was still fun! Cannon LOVES swimming. It takes him a minute to get used to the temperature, but then he is happy!

Photo 101

Janessa, my sister-in-law, watches Cannon for me on some of the days that I work. She sent me this picture she took of him and I think it's SO cute! She said they were playing photo shoot. But I think she did an awesome job and you should teach me your wonderful talents!

Binky Free!

Day 5: Well I think we have done it. (I hope I'm not jumping the gun here.) But Cannon slept ALL night last night and he is going down a lot easier without his binky! I was a little worried today when he was playing with a little girl during Sunday School who had the same type of binky he used to use in her mouth. He didn't try to take it or anything, he just kind of looked at her like she was the one who took his binkies away from him. But then just went on playing! So unless we encounter any major obstacles this will be the end of the Binky Diaries!

Binky Diaries -Part 3

Thursday night Cannon did GREAT! He slept soundlessly! It was definitely a success!

Day 3:
I was at work the majority of the day, so Cannon was home with Daddy. According to Josh he did pretty good though!

Day 4:

I think Cannon is well on his way getting used to life without a binky! He has his moments, but he is getting better. Last night was a little harder. He woke up and had to fuss for a few minutes. He was really ornery this afternoon and hope today was the worse day...
He went down GREAT for bed though...he was really tired.

Binky Diaries -Part 2

So, last night there was definitely some lack of sleep. Cannon woke up twice, the first time he went right back to sleep. But the second time I was up with him for about 1/2 an hour and I finally just laid him down to just let him cry and he only cried for about a minute then fell asleep! (I should have laid him down sooner!)

Day 2:
Today wasn't any big difference from yesterday. First nap he went down with out even fussing and slept for almost 2 hours! Afternoon nap, he fussed for about 10 minutes then fell asleep and slept for about an hour.

Bedtime:
Again it went really well! We read stories then I gave him his bottle and then put him in his crib and gave him his blanket to hold and he didn't even fuss!! Hopefully tonight is better than last night!

Binky Diaries

Ok, so with Cannon turning one on Sunday, I figured it was time to "pull the plug" on the binky. He ususally only uses it when he is going down for a nap or going to bed, but Josh and I decided a few weeks ago that after he turned one, we would tackle this challenge. I thought that I would share my progress, thus also making me have to report so I don't just give in to his binky desires. So each day, until the addiction is overcome by Cannon I will report.

Day 1 (Today):

I must admit I was terrified when I got up this morning, realizing that my easy days of just laying Cannon down and giving him his binky are no more. But I am determined to succeed.

1st go at it: Nap #1 hit this morning and I knew Cannon was tired. It usually is just a matter of giving him his blanket and binky then he will fall right to sleep. But I just gave him is blanket and a big hug and put him in his crib. He of course cried as I left the room, but I was hoping he would just fall asleep. I was prepared for the worse, but after a short half hour of him crying on and off, he fell soundlessly to sleep. (Ahh...first hurdle overcome!) Sadly, his normal 1-1 1/2 hr morning nap only lasted about a 1/2 hr.

Nap #2: Cannon was so tired by the time his 2nd nap hit that I just read him a book while rocking him with his blanket, laid him down and he fussed for about 2 mins (if that) then he was out! But this time he slept for more than an hour and a half!

BEDTIME:
This is the part I was dreading most because Cannon always has at least 3 binkies in bed with him. Yet again he was really tired as I fed him his evening bottle, while rocking him with his blanket, and the poor tired little guy fell asleep in my arms! I put him in his crib and his little hands searched for his binkies for a few seconds and he started to fuss, but then just rolled over and fell right asleep!

So far so good!! Today hasn't been bad at all, now I just hope tomorrow goes as well! (Knock on wood!) And technically tonight is not over yet, hopefully he doesn't wake up!

My Boys!

Ok, so this blog is ALL about my boys! The past couple weeks have been pretty crazy. Mine and Josh's 4 year Anniversary was on May 17th, then Cannon's first Birthday is TODAY (May 23rd).

I will start off with the first event, our Anniversary. I know 4 years doesn't sound like a very long time to many other couples out there but it seems like a big accomplishment considering how long a lot of other marriages last now-a-days. So needless to say we are proud! But the funny thing is that it has FLOWN by for us! I still remember when our 1 year Anniversary came and it happened so fast Josh and I couldn't believe it. We had always been told that the first year of marriage is the hardest and we looked at each other on that one year mark and wondered what other people were talking about. So this year for our Anniversary we were able to get a sitter for Cannon (thanks Jona and Gloria!), and we went to the Salt Lake Temple and did some sealings. If we can we like to go so we can reminisce about our wedding day and be in the same spot we were sitting right before our wedding ceremony took place. Then after doing sealings we went and ate at Josh's favorite restaurant... the Rodizio Grill. It was a lot of fun, even though I can't remember the last time I ate so much! Ugh! I need to learn to stop at that restaurant...but I feel like I need to eat a lot to get my money's worth! Josh thank you for 4 AMAZING years of marriage and I can't wait to celebrate MANY more anniversaries in the MANY years to come!

Here are some pictures to remember that special day...

Now for the second big event. CANNON'S 1ST BIRTHDAY! The past year has literally gone by faster than ANY other year in my whole life! I can't believe that my little boy was born 1 whole year ago! Here is a collage of some of the memories that have been created with our little boy...

So even though technically his birthday is today, we celebrated yesterday with our family. We had a little party at Josh's parents house where we ate lunch, opened presents and had cake and ice cream. Cannon loves Winnie the Pooh so we had a Winnie the Pooh cake made for him, and a special small cake make for him to dive into. But in true Davis fashion, this proves he does have SOME of me in him, he wouldn't dive into his cake AT ALL! He got some frosting on his hands and feet and then starting crying! Poor little guy was overwhelmed with all the people watching him. But we had so much fun sharing the time with family members and wished that more of my immediate family was closer so they could have been there as well. Here are some pictures of the chaotic party (thanks Gloria for taking awesome pictures for us)...

This DELICIOUS cake, thanks to Bobby at Adventurous cakes...yummy! She makes the BEST cakes!

Here is the Cannon size cake..that he did NOT dive into. hehe

Opening presents with Daddy!

I think he only likes to get dirty when he's NOT suppose to. If you let him, you take the fun out of it. Right? You can also see what a skinny-minnie he is!

Tree House Museum

On April 8th Chey and I took the kiddos to the Tree House Museum in Ogden. They LOVED it! Although it was PACKED that day, probably because it was Davis County's Spring Break. So note for the future, don't go during Spring Break! But it was still a lot of fun! Cannon was all over the place! He didn't want to hold still! So much to see and do! Below you will see that I tried to get a picture of him wearing a fireman hat, but he wanted nothing to do with it and that was the best one I could get!

Cannon and Tessa

This video was taken a while ago...it shows the crazy things a parent will do to make their child laugh...(Josh is such a good Daddy!)

Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street?

So Cannon has gotten into some shows. It started out with a stuffed Pooh Bear that Josh gave me while we were dating. Cannon has taken to it and LOVES seeing Pooh Bear anywhere. Then he loves Elmo too! He smiles and loves watching him on Sesame Street. The other day while I was at the store they had an Elmo toy and it talked and moved and Cannon thought it was the best thing ever. He was laughing soo hard and luckily I had the camera in my purse. He actually was laughing harder than the video shows, but by the time I grabbed it I think he had gotten a little tired.

Easter Sunday

Our official Easter festivities began the night before Easter. I knew that involving Cannon with dying the eggs this year would be just me telling him "No" to everything. So once the little boy went to bed, Josh and I dyed our Easter eggs. We each did three, and I was thinking of what designs I could do that would grab Cannon's attention and of course had to do one with Cannon's name on it to put in his Easter basket. As you can see from the pictures below, Josh had other things on his mind....(Although, I must admit it made me laugh when he pulled the egg out of the dye and his "secret message" was revealed.)

The next morning Cannon woke up to find his Easter basket on the family room floor. (The Easter Bunny I am sure knew he wouldn't understand the concept of finding a basket...quite yet.) He found eggs with candy, bubbles for the summer time, as well as a FUN blue ball! Then, of course, what does he like the most...the Easter grass in his basket! haha

After General Conference we went over to Grandma Peggy and Grandpa Jay's house for dinner. Then we had an Easter egg hunt. Cannon was pretty oblivious to the whole idea but Josh was so cute to take him around and help him "find" eggs. Below you will see Cannon with all his cousins on that side of the family.

The following pictures are of me and Josh just messing around. We started to take pictures of us and then we were laughing because we kept making close to the same face without planning it.

Then Josh wanted a picture of with Lucky. Lucky isn't exactly a dog that enjoys being held, but when the picture was revealed we laughed soo hard because Josh and Lucky were making the same face! haha

Somebody's in Trouble...Ok not really.

So this actually happened not this last Wednesday but the one before (on March 3rd). I was in the middle of making a dessert for my Young Women activity that night and while I was doing that Cannon discovered that while I was preoccupied it was the opportune moment to get into Lucky's dish. Now you have to understand MULTIPLE times a day he tried to get into Lucky's water. We are CONSTANTLY stopping him from doing so. But this ONE time he got to it and I wasn't in the position to stop him. (By the way it really sounds like he says "yes" in this video. He probably doesn't and that's just my motherly ears hearing things, but it still makes me laugh!)

Here are some recent pictures as well. Oh how he LOVES peaches!

And of course the Salad Spinner is his new love in the kitchen! (I actually have another video with the Salad Spinner but I will have to post that one later.) I love how you can see his two little teeth in the bottom picture. He now also has his two top teeth. Well, they just broke through so they are not all the way in but they are definitely there!

Put one foot in front of the other!

Cannon loves to stand up. He is always walking along the coffee table, couch, wall... anything he can pull himself up on! He has been doing it for about a month now, but loves to play with his walker toy. This was one of the first times I put him on it, he wasn't quite used to pacing himself, but he's picked it up fast and loves to play with it. Although he still can't steer. :)

Of course with more mobility comes disaster! Here are just a few examples of what he likes to get into most...

I LOVE the DVD's!! i get into them multiple times EVERY day!
(Yes... EVERY SINGLE DAY!)

Oh, and last but my VERY most favorite thing to do is open and close doors or cupboards!

There is NO going back!

So at the beginning of December Cannon started to do an army crawl, which he picked up very fast. Then on the Monday after Christmas he starting pulling himself up onto things to get into a standing position. Shortly thereafter he started crawling on his hands and knees. He has been NON-STOP since then. Just earlier this week I watched him climb up our whole flight of stairs! (Mind you I was hovering extremely close, mostly paranoid about the tile floor at the bottom of our stairs. It's a good thing, because I prevented a few tumbles.) Needless to say he is a boy on the move! This video was taken actually on Josh's birthday and I had been in the kitchen for maybe a minute and came back to find Cannon had pulled himself up on the coffee table! (Coffee table in Mommy term is also known as DANGER!) So of course there have been some bumps and bruises, but that is all unavoidable to never have that happen, right? (BTW...you can ignore my annoying "baby voice.")

Christmas 2009

Ok so I know it's late but I still have to post some Christmas pictures. Josh and I are both BIG fans of the Christmas season. It's always fun spending time with family and making more memories. My family was able to be in town too so that was a blast!

Christmas with the Whitesides!

Christmas with the Davis'!

Can you tell who our pictures center around? Hmm...could it be Cannon?! He's not loved at all is he?!
